Berthoud: licensed haulers and a spring voucher
Berthoud’s junk rules start with a town license for anyone collecting waste, and its spring clean-up hands residents a free landfill trip rather than a curbside pile.
Haulers need a town license
Berthoud’s trash and utility providers page says a waste management provider must be licensed by the town, and notes that some HOAs or metro districts allow only one company. Ask both questions before hiring anyone for a cleanout. The town’s economic development page describes it as the Garden Spot of Colorado, between Longmont and Loveland and straddling Weld and Larimer counties.
The 2026 Community Clean-Up
From April 24 to May 9, 2026, residents could take one load of household items to the Larimer County Landfill at no charge with a town-issued voucher, one per household, according to the town’s March 17 release. Tires, e-recycling, appliances and mattresses were not covered and carried extra fees.
Where a load goes now
That voucher sent loads to the landfill on Taft Hill Road. Larimer County has since moved public disposal to the Central Diversion & Transfer Station on West Trilby Road, so check the county’s solid waste page, retrieved September 27, 2026, for the current gate before the next annual event.
