Larimer County’s disposal A to Z list marks mattresses as recycled at the Central Diversion & Transfer Station, with fees. The 2026 fee schedule sets the charge at $40 for each mattress or box spring, and the county’s solid waste FAQ adds the condition: dry and free of bedbugs.
Nearby drop-offs, their own prices
The Loveland Recycling Center at 400 N. Wilson Ave. charges $29 for each mattress or box spring and refuses any with bedbugs or rodents. At Timnath’s spring clean-up day, the mattress recycler on site charged $30 apiece and turned wet ones away, so a tarp on the drive over matters.
The City’s mattress entry still shows a county mattress drop at 5887 S. Taft Hill Road. Public disposal moved to Trilby in August 2026, so confirm with the county which entrance takes mattresses before you load.
Getting it out of the bedroom
Measure the tightest turn on the way out before the day. A box spring does not bend at all, and a king mattress rarely clears a narrow stairwell without a fight. If there is any sign of bedbugs, say so before booking, since infested mattresses are refused for recycling and the plan has to change.
